Need to Change Your Party?

If you're registered with another party or as independent, you must change your enrollment to Democrat well in advance. Party change deadlines in New York are among the earliest in the nation. Check with your county board of elections for the exact deadline.

Absentee & Mail-In Voting

New York now offers no-excuse absentee voting. Any registered voter can request an absentee ballot without providing a reason.

How to Vote by Mail

1

Request Your Ballot

Apply online, by mail, or in person at your county board of elections. Request early — applications must be received at least 15 days before the election.

2

Complete & Return

Fill out your ballot, seal it in the provided envelope, and sign the envelope. Return by mail (must be postmarked by election day) or drop it off at your county board of elections or any early voting site.

3

Track Your Ballot

Use the NY State Board of Elections absentee ballot tracker to confirm your ballot was received and counted.

Every Vote Counts

In 2022, Mike Lawler won NY-17 by just 0.7% — fewer than 2,000 votes. Your vote could be the one that flips this seat.
